Love is in the air. Meta and NVIDIA just made a partnership announcement.

Meta to use the following technology from NVIDIA:
- Confidential Computing
- Spectrum-X Ethernet platform
About Confidential Computing:
NVIDIA Confidential Computing protects sensitive AI data, models, and computations in use by creating hardware-enforced trusted execution environments directly on GPUs, with the latest Vera Rubin architecture enabling the world’s first rack-scale confidential computing for massive-scale workloads.
Long story short: WhatsApp chats were already private (E2EE), and earlier AI privacy tech was solid but more limited/software-focused. Now, with NVIDIA’s tech, Meta is hardening and scaling privacy-preserving AI even further—making advanced features (smarter summaries, responses, etc.) available without any theoretical or practical weakening of that core privacy promise. It’s an enhancement for trust in AI-enhanced messaging, not a fix for something that was broken before.
About Spectrum-X Ethernet Platform
The NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet platform is the world’s first Ethernet networking solution purpose-built for massive-scale AI workloads, delivering up to 1.6x better performance and sustained ~95% data efficiency at clusters exceeding 100,000 GPUs compared to traditional Ethernet, through features like advanced RoCE extensions, adaptive routing, performance isolation, and tight integration of Spectrum switches with SuperNICs for hyperscale AI training and inference.
Long story short: Meta will highly likely reap exponential gains in AI training efficiency, reducing GPU idle time, delivering predictable low-latency connectivity across millions of GPUs, and improving operational/power efficiency while integrating seamlessly with its open FBOSS/Minipack ecosystem for faster deployment of massive-scale AI workloads.
